Metal Detectors and More Photos!

Sorry. The photos are out of order here. These are the photos from some of our time in Delhi and Agra, which actually came before the days in Varanasi (below), but hey, it's India, not everything comes in logical order. We got delayed an extra day in Delhi, but are leaving for the Himalayas tonight, although the delay allowed us to book a "Toy Train" for the trip back to Delhi in a couple weeks when we'll fly to Bangkok. I didn't have the heart to tell Jessica that the train will NOT actually be like the little choo choo on silver spoons, so maybe don't mention that in the comments.

I have to say I will sort of miss Delhi. It's crazy and there are touts and aggressive salesmen everywhere, but it's sort of fun in a way. The new little game for Jessica and I has been coming up with new ways to shake the touts. My personal favorite is to try to sell them something or to lead them to a shop of OUR choosing and try to get them to buy sandals or something. That usually completely throws them for a loop and makes for some good entertainment.

I will also miss the strange infatuation with "metal detectors." They are everywhere. NONE of them actually work, but they are everwhere. You go through them to take the subway (which was an adventure), to enter the bazaars and the train station and sometimes just cause they are there. But NONE of them actually work. Most are just a box of wood made to look like a metal detector. And you can walk around them no problem, but still people seem to love going through them. I've even seen some made out of PVC pipe. They aint detecting shit, but the TSA airport decor is pretty awesome! OK enjoy the pics. Sorry for the jumbled order.

  4. Ha, you guys thought you had gotten rid of me, eh? No sir!

So the beer is no good in India, huh? That spells trouble for J.R. Make sure you guys get a taste of the Thai whiskey when you get to Bangkok, it is delicious. I highly recommend mixing it with orange Fanta...
